Asset Management with David Albrice

When there is unplanned downtime and repeating failures in the plant, that means you are not managing your assets in the right way. Asset management can be used to enhance the value of a piece of equipment. So what is asset management? It is simply a process to make sure you get the value that you want from your machines. The idea is not just to get value in terms of money. It is about making sure that your equipment is in the optimum conditions and is running when you really need it to. This is something you can’t do without asset management.

Asset Integrity Management Systems with Ali Bashir

Whenever we talk about asset management, asset integrity is the first thing that pops up in your mind. Asset integrity is the ability of an asset to perform effectively and efficiently depending upon the environment to meet the bottom-line of an organization. This also includes and depends on the integrity of the systems, processes, and people that show the nature of that organization. Your asset management strategy should be fit for purpose and needs to be developed considering the requirements of the organization along with the risks that are involved if it fails. This is where the Asset Integrity Management Systems come in action.

Women In Reliability and Asset Management (WiRAM) with Maura Abad

The presence of women in different industries is a growing fact that cannot be denied. They are now involved in fields—from management to engineering—that were considered solely to be men’s and they are doing these jobs incredibly and competently. There are a very few platforms that emphasize on empowering the women and providing them with content that they need to get better at their jobs and be a valuable asset to the organizations they work for. Still, there is a large number of women who are making transitions to more technical jobs and WiRAM is one of those platforms where women can get the educational content and training they need to handle the asset management work and get ahead in the reliability and maintenance industry.

Managing Performance in Asset Management with Scott Kelley

In this episode of the weekly podcast, the guest Scott Kelley explains the 5th cell of the Hexcellence Model. All of the previous cells of this hexagon are connected to each other and are equally important when it comes to getting the superior asset management outcomes. But when it comes to achieving optimum results for the company some sort of performance measures must be done and each of the factors involved in determining the performance level must be taken care of. Not only that you need to understand these factors deeply, you need to relate them to your baselines for budget and time as well. In this way, you will be able to meet the expectations and standards that ultimately lead to focused improvements in the long run. Now, these measures will change the behavior of your organization. So, you have to be careful while using any metrics for measurement to get those numbers that will determine the behavior of your people. A good performance metric is always balanced to avoid any counter-productive outcomes. You can create as many metrics as you want but unless those are aligned with your strategic goals, they won’t be of any help at all. That’s why all the metrics that you use should be fit for purpose—meaning that look at the overall picture and make the indicators in a comparative fashion if you want those to make sense.

What a Plant Consists of with Scott Kelley

In today’s episode, the guest Scott Kelley tells the audience about the importance of a plant in the asset management model. The plant cell is not just limited to the physical assets of the organization but it also includes the methods, risk evaluation, and mitigation strategies which you need to take care of to keep your plant performing at its best. The physical assets, facilities, and the equipment that you are using play a critical role when you need your plant to be working successfully. To accomplish this, you will need an asset management plan which should answer the following questions; what to maintain? How to maintain? When to maintain? Why maintain? Who will maintain? How and where to document the information? What is the cost involved? What are the consequences of non-maintenance? Now there are some facets that need to be kept in mind while planning for the asset management especially your plant.

Importance of People in an Asset Management Model with Scott Kelley

In this episode, the guest Scott Kelley explains the role of the people component in the asset management model. Asset management is the most effective way of making the best use of investment and improve the production level of any organization. There are total six components in the model; people, plant, processes, policies and procedures, performance, and proactive maintenance. The people factor is of top priority among all of these factors. Why is the people component most important? Well, considering even if you have excelled in every other cell, you are going to need people to manage all of these and above all well trained and skillful people to make this work. Now, this cell in the model contains things such as organizational development, organizational structure, continuous improvement, change management, and operational excellence.

Failure data and the CMMS with John Reeve

JOURNALSIn today’s episode, the guest is John Reeve and the agenda of discussion is failure data and CMMS. As everyone knows that to maintain and solve issues with the equipment you need to get all the basic data or information available. Computerized maintenance management system helps greatly in this task but first of all, you have to know exactly what kind of data are you looking for and what it means. Now failure data can be anything related to your asset that is the foundation data or then transactional data comes which includes the processing data related to the asset such as the actual cost. Now, next thing to understand is the failure mode which consists of the failed component, component problem and cause code. Once you have this failure data, it becomes very easy to run the basic failure analysis which is necessary at certain levels.
