Acceptance

Part of a control chart, line(s) used to judge the stability of a process. On a Shewhart chart, and others, these line(s) represent control limits, or action limits. Other than on acceptance control charts, the control limits are not specification limits. The lines are statistically determined boundaries for the expected deviations from the center line due to random causes alone.

The average number of units in samples drawn per lot used to determine lot acceptance or rejection for a specific acceptance sample plan.

In acceptance sampling, it is the probability of acceptance of a lot when it actually has a non-acceptable quality level. Based on the sample data the conclusion is a false acceptance. Often abbreviated as beta (β).

The point on a specific operating characteristic curve that represents a predetermined low probability of acceptance.

The maximum AOQ given the full range of possible incoming product quality level values experiencing a specific acceptance quality plan.
