Recorded webinars on the topic of ALT

Accelerated Life Testing is our attempt to cheat time

A common question about an item, is “Will this last for at least x years?” For products that are expected to only last a fraction of year, this is often an easy question to address in real time. This become a complex question to address when the ‘x years’ is longer than the time till an answer is required.

There are many forms of ALT and in these webinars we address the various elements of planning, conducting, analyzing, and communicating ALTs. Plus, we examine the many tradeoffs and assumptions that further complicate running an ALT experiment.

Culture

Culture

Recorded webinars on the topic of culture

Culture is how and why we do what we do

An organization’s culture is the framework for decision making within an organization. Who makes which decisions, how resources are allocated, and the priority of reliability objectives are all elements of an organization’s culture.

The existing culture may impede or foster the work of a reliability engineer. The first step is to understand the culture and change the culture when necessary. The reliability maturity of an organization reflects the culture related to reliability-related decision making.

These webinars related to culture explore how to understand, work with, and improve the culture as related to reliability decision making and maturity.

Plan

Plan

Recorded webinars on the topic of plans

A Plan is the Blueprint for Change

A reliability plan documents that methods to execute to achieve a reliability goal. It may focus on a specific project, the encompassing program, or a set of assets.

Plans that focus on providing the key decision makers with the necessary information to make better decisions, is an effective way to determine what should be part of the plan. We do not have time or resources to do everything, so focus on the most important decisions that will impact the reliability outcomes.

These webinars related to plans explore the various elements and steps that make up an effective and valuable plan.

Goals

Goals

Recorded webinars on the topic of reliability goals

Goals, Objectives, and KPIs Define the Target

Reliability engineering uses a range of target defining techniques including vision, goals, objectives, and KPIs.

The idea is to clearly define where we’re going or trying to achieve. Setting and monitoring goals well takes full understanding of how to do so, and how to communicate them. Goals define the target, yet also provide a means to orient the team and provide a basis for decisions. While setting a goal does not guarentee achieving it, not setting a goal leaves what you will achieve in doubt.

These webinars related to goals explore how to define them, as well communicate them well. The events also explore the various kinds and elements of effective goals.

Manage the Details, Lead toward a Vision

Reliability engineering management is the process of understanding the reliability vision, organizing the available resources, and achieving the vision.

The planning, coordination, and motivating individuals within and outside the organization requires both techinical prowess and examplar communication skills. Remember, reliability is not achieved solely by the reliability team. Reliability occurs when everyone understands thier role in achiving reliability objectives.

The webinars related to reliability engineering management explore the many facets of understanding what needs to be done and the why it is the right thing to get done.

Testing

Testing

Recorded webinars on the topic of testing

Testing creates information

Testing is an experiment done to create information. This information may be a comparison to a standard or specification. Or, it may be to determine the items response to stress(es). Testing may also monitor performance to reveal patterns or defects.

Reliability engineers may identify, design, conduct, and analyze a wide range of testing. This may include environmental, growth, and qualification types of testing, to name a few.

The webinars related to testing explore every aspect of reliability-related testing. Plus, how to achieve meaningful results.

Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Recorded webinars on the topic of SPC

SPC is about Understanding and Controlling Variation

SPC is the set of activities using statistical techniques to reduce variation, increase knowledge of the process, and direct the process in a desired manner. SPC is often associated with control charting and provides a means to identify and minimize unwanted process variation and maintain process stability.

The webinars related to SPC explore how to implement these statistical methods. These webinars also examine the connections between reliability engineering and managing variation.

Value

Value

Recorded webinars on the topic of value

Value is the Result of Change

Reliability engineering, like any engineering, has the potential to create value. To make a positive difference in the project, the organization, and the world.

Implementing reliability methods creates the potential for change. Establishing objectives, creating new information, or setting priorities are examples of outcomes. Yet, alone, these outcomes will not create change unless they are connected to key decisions at the right time and in an effective manner.

The webinars related to value explore how to identify and document the value created due to reliability engineering activities. Plus, events that examine the positive impact of an effective reliability program.
