James Reyes-Picknell
James is the best-selling author of “Uptime – Strategies for Excellence in Maintenance Management”, now in its 3rd edition, co-author of “Reliability Centered Maintenance – Re-engineered”, co-founder and Principal Consultant of Conscious Asset.
He is a Mechanical Engineer, graduate of the University of Toronto and has more than 44 years working in Operations, Maintenance, Reliability and Asset Management.
He has worked in a wide variety of industries in hands-on technical and managerial roles. He has been a ship’s engineer (Canadian Navy), a maintenance and reliability engineer (Esso Chemicals Canada), logistics and maintenance support manager for a fleet of naval ships, helicopter and aircraft landing system projects.
James’ consulting career began at Coopers & Lybrand in 1995 progressing through increasingly senior roles to Director (Associate Partner) in PwC Consulting / IBM.
He started his own firm, Conscious Asset in 2004. Today Conscious Asset, now over 17 years in the business, is widely regarded as a high quality specialist boutique firm ensuring the delivery of value from physical assets.
James has worked with Reliability Centered Maintenance since the mid-1980’s and successfully blended it into a comprehensive framework for Maintenance Management in his book, “Uptime”. He also worked on re-engineering the process, culminating in the RCM-R™ book.
As an author of books and articles, frequent public speaker, trainer, consultant, webinar host and columnist he is known as a thought-leader in the fields of Reliability, Maintenance and Asset Management.
He is a registered Professional Engineer (Ontario, Canada), a Certified Management Consultant (Canada), a certified Maintenance Management Professional (PEMAC), a Certified Asset Management Assessor (WPiAM) and a Certified Senior Principal in Asset Management (WPiAM). He is a member and volunteer with CMC Canada, and PEMAC, and a member of PEO.
