• ‘Anchoring” is a proposed method that ensures the value intended from the application of a test or analysis tool is fully realised.
• In too many cases we apply test tools in a “fire and forget” mindset.  We kick them off and then don’t pay any attention until they come back with results.  Often these results are arriving much later than planned and now have a greatly diminished value.
• With anchoring we are tracking the progress of the tool in reference to the corresponding program activities.  if the original anchors to program decision or deliverable points no longer matches we can assess the value the tool still has.  Maybe we put it on hold or maybe we increase it’s priority and funding. Depends on what we are now going to get in return for our investment.
